Have you ever spent the night in a truck? “Nākotnes parks”, a new tourism site in Jelgava municipality, offers such an unusual opportunity. Adventurers and romance seekers are welcome to enjoy an overnight stay in a unique accommodation – the comfortable GAZ-63 truck parked in the scenic “Ābeles un bites” apple orchard.
“People crave unforgettable moments and new impressions, so they choose unusual places and accommodation more often. At the same time, travellers are becoming more demanding! We let imagination run wild and this time offer something special for couples and anyone who is ready for something unprecedented. We knew right away that the gazik would not be just a vehicle, although it is still drivable! It quickly transformed into an exclusive accommodation for couples. We have thought of others too! We offer both a cosy house for a family and a holiday house for a larger group of people,” tell Kārlis Dandzbergs, an owner of the apple orchard “Ābeles un bites”, and Andris Karičkins, a designer who refurbished the gazik.
The GAZ-63 was manufactured in 1964 at the Gorky Automobile Plant. As a four-wheel-drive vehicle, the gazik is capable to ascend and descend steep slopes, traverse muddy terrain and overcome even a half-metre thick blanket of snow. A military communication vehicle handling a three crew in the past, it now has become an unusual type of accommodation standing in the very heart of the apple orchard offering the guests peaceful stay and romantic solitude. Moreover, the GAZ-63 is still driveable!
Surprise your loved one!
The GAZ-63 in the apple garden of the inspiration and adventure site “Future Park” has been installed as a romantic accommodation for couples. It features a king size bed (160 x 200 cm), a mini-refrigerator, and a renovated Soviet era kitchen table with a bench. There is everything thought of for guests’ comfort – electricity, drinking water, a kettle and fruit, built in music speakers to create a romantic atmosphere. The toilet and shower cabin bathroom is located nearby.
The adjacent patio is a perfect place to enjoy meals and the tranquillity of the apple orchard, to have a conversation or, on the contrary, keep quiet and listen to the symphony of nature. BBQ grill and charcoal are also available. The canopy will protect from adverse weather conditions. Moreover, with heating and ventilation systems installed, a comfortable and cosy overnight stay is guaranteed in all seasons!
Would it be a date, a wedding anniversary or a birthday surprise, an overnight stay there will be a very special and unforgettable event! Gazik is available for bookings on Airbnb from July 19, or by calling or writing: +371 25713949, firstname.lastname@example.org. Price for two persons from EUR 70 per night.
More classic recreation
“Nākotnes parks” also offers other accommodation opportunities. The guest house “Pūpoli” is perfect for overnight stays of up to 11 persons and offers a beautiful view over the seemingly infinite Zemgale Plain. This urban vintage house mixes and matches contemporary and modern with industrial design style.
The hexagonal holiday house “Ceriņi” with all amenities for four people is located in the apple orchard near the children’s playground, so it will be perfect for families with children. There are several picnic spots, a gazebo and hammocks for adults and children to have a good time in the apple orchard.
The scenic apple orchard dates back to 1950 and is now part of the adventure and inspiration site “Nākotnes parks”. It covers 7.4 hectares and features more than 10 different apple tree varieties. “Nākotnes parks” is located in Latvia’s central part, Nākotne village, just 18 km from Jelgava and 65 km from Riga.
