Bird Day in Future Park!
Did you know that 1 April is not just a day for jokes, but also International Bird Day? It is a day that calls attention to birds, their importance in nature and our responsibility for the environment around us. This year, 1 April falls on a Wednesday, but we will celebrate Bird Day earlier – on 29 March, in Nākotnes Park.

We invite big and small friends of nature to a special spring event where you will have the opportunity to get creative, learn new things about birds and just enjoy a day outdoors.
The event will include a birdhouse masterclass, birdhouse painting, a meeting with an ornithologist, tree climbing under the supervision of an arborist, educational tasks about birds, a creative workshop, large-scale games, as well as tea, coffee and snacks.
Birdhouse masterclass
One of the highlights of the event will be the birdhouse masterclass. It will be an opportunity for families, friends or other small groups to make a birdhouse together and create something precious for our winged friends.
The Masterclass will take place on 29 March 2026 as part of the Birds’ Days event in Nākotnes Park from 12.00 to 16.00.
Participation in the birdhouse masterclass is a paid service – 20 EUR per group of participants who make one birdhouse together.
To take part in the masterclass, please fill in the application form and register for the masterclass in advance (places are limited).
Meeting with an ornithologist
The programme of the Birds’ Days event includes a meeting with ornithologist Valts Jaunzeme, who will talk about his work and share stories about birds in Latvia. It will be a great opportunity to learn more about the habits of birds, their diversity and what can be seen around us.
Activities for children and families
The event will also feature several activities for children and families:
- Climbing a tree under the supervision of an arborist;
- Large-scale games that will be free to use throughout the day;
- Educational tasks about birds;
- A workshop where children can make or colour their own paper bird.
